Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada; Fabian Ortiz (better known as Neutral Cohesion) is a music producer specializing in a wide variety of electronic music.
His first introduction to the vast genre of electronic music was in high school, when he heard the entrancing tune of “Ghosts n’ Stuff” by Deadmau5. His discovery of this kind of music left him craving for more. Around the same time, a close friend introduced him to Reason, a music production software. This led to many hours spent together producing that characteristic beginner sound – noise. Through this, the seed was planted, and soon the solo project dubbed “Neutral Cohesion” was born. Those formative high school years led to the release of “Right Where We Began“, his first full length album.
After high school, Fabian went on to pursue a degree in chemistry. During that period, music was put towards the backburner, but never out of sight. His studies influenced his music during the writing of his second album, “Entropy“. This was a journey into seeking a much more experimental and thematic sound, resulting in dark and chaotic music. A couple of years later, his EP, “Palindromeda“, was released. This saw a shift towards more upbeat music, while still retaining some of the dark atmosphere of the previous album. Nowadays, having finished university, Fabian works as a chemist by day and is a hobby musician by night. Apart from making electronic music, he enjoys singing and playing the guitar, which he intends on incorporating more of on future releases. At one point, he was in a band as well, having partaken in several jam sessions and a few recordings. He intends on continuing to make music as a solo artistand is very interested in composing for videogames and films.
His multi-layered, often bass-heavy, and dynamically emotional production style is a sound to be sought-after. One listen, and you will surely be absorbed, coming out feeling far from neutral.
